What could keep 1993 Oldsmobile Delta 88 from turning over?

My wife and I have a 1993 Oldsmobile Delta 88. The car drives fine, for the most part, but for the past year, about once a month, the car will not start up. You can hear the engine starting, but it won't turn over and finally start. Eventually (within 5 - 10 minutes of trying) one of the attempts succeeds and the engine does turn over. Additionally, about 3 of the past 12 -15 times total that this has occurred, we've been driving the car when it's died. Then, upon trying to start the car back up, we've had the preceeding problem.

Up til now it's just been annoying, but it's done it about 3 times in the past week and a half.

All thoughts are very appreciated! Thank you!
I'm not sure if the starter is rotating the flywheel, but only cause I really don't know anything about cars.

I might also not be using "turning over" appropriately. I'm not just getting a clicking sound, I can hear the motor starting. If we keep the key turned in the ignition the motor keeps sounding like it's going to start. Perhaps it's more accurate to say that it keeps turning over but it's not starting.
Looking at questions asked by other people that seem to match what our problem is, it looks like GM cars can have this problem and it's the fuel pump?

A: Sounds like a bad battery. Most car batteries last several years. Most likely one of the cells is bad. Just go over to your local parts place and they will check it for free. (answered by RCP on March 05, 2007)

A: I think these are accessed for the trunk. If there is a panel hiding them inside the trunk, remove the panel to access them and it should just be four nuts and a connector on each speaker. (answered by Tee on June 16, 2008)
