SOME of the UK's most desirable classic cars will be coming under the hammer in a couple of weeks at an auction that is expected to attract buyers from all over the country.
Each of the cars is billed as probably the finest example of its type and most are extremely rare even though they were relatively ordinary in their day in some cases.
They include an E-Type Jaguar, a 1960s' Jaguar saloon, Ford Escort Mexico, a stunning white MG TD, Rolls-Royce Corniche, an Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider and a humble Mini van that could fetch at least ten times its original price when new in 1962.
The E-Type is a 1969 Series 2 that was imported from Cob County, Georgia and restored in 1991 at a cost of £32,000. It has clocked-up just 5,000 miles since then and is likely to fetch just under £40,000.
The other Jaguar is a 1961 MkII 3.4 Saloon with manual transmission plus overdrive. It was imported here from Australia where it avoided the ravages of the British weather and is in as-new condition with a likely hammer price of £30,000.
