Tim Colbeck, president of Saab Cars North America, has said there was a chance Saab might move away from the 9-3 badge and adopt a name for its successor that draws from the brand's heritage, although he added that no decisions about the name had... "It wasn't in the business plan prior to the new investment, and now it is," said Colbeck, adding that CEO Victor Muller and Jason Castriota, Saab's executive design director, were reviewing about five designs for a modern interpretation of the 9-2. The next-generation Saab 9-3 sedan may have a different name when it appears early in 2013, although the carmaker's future outside major markets is still up in the air. Colbeck said the next-generation 9-3 would be an "edgy" reinterpretation of design cues used by the carmaker in the past. A successor to the Saab 9-2 produced in the late 1940s through the mid-1950s is also back on the drawing board after the Swedish company was able to secure a new round of funding from investors.
Q:
A: You need to have a Saab dealer or independent Saab mechanic use their programming scanner (aka Tech II). Many shops can be hesitant to do this, b/c of local laws. It is NOT something you can do yourself (besides pulling out the light bulbs!) (answered by kiwibob7x on February 09, 2526)
A: Why on earth would you want to disable this safety feature?Q:
A: There will probably be parts and services available if GM goes bust, it's just the warranty you might want to check when you talk to a car dealer.

Q:
A: I am sorry, but the first answer is correct. Here is a discussion blog explaining why it is highly important to have a spare key. The way Saabs are programmed they CANNOT be stolen if the security system is operating. The key is really a computer chip that has been programmed that cannot be replicated without an existing key being present. It makes the car very secure, and with its high safety rating, very low to insure by insurance companies. The downside is you are "screwed" if you lose the keys - there is no recourse. Sorry:
