Subaru Forester 2011 car review

I recently was in the left front seat of an older Subaru Forester at highways speeds, but with no steering wheel in front of me. Not to worry. This third-generation Forester, which was new for 2009, is appreciably larger in every dimension than the last generation model, with a roomier back seat. The new Forester is no more powerful than the 2010 model, despite a refined base engine, but provides good acceleration in town and on highways. I recently tested a 2011 Forester four-door small SUV (or “crossover,” if you will) after returning to America. I was in Australia, where the steering wheel is on the right side and vehicles are driven in the left lane.
I own a '09 Subaru Forester XT. What is the torque distribution for the auto transmission?
There are conflicting information found online. Most assume its 90/10 while they are some who maintain its at 60/40 until slip occurs, then the system will change to 50/50. (asked by Baldy on February 11, 7313)
A: The correct figure is dependent on the type of transmission as the 2 transmissions handle the distribution differently. As a rule, the manual will give you a 50/50 split all the time where the automatic wants to get you into a 90/10 split as soon as possible. In practice, there is no difference between the systems. Under extreme conditions, the manual system is better until you have to shift. (answered by donniemac_33050 on February 11, 7011)
Q:
How much is the control chip for a SUBARU FORESTER XT to gain as much horespower as possible?
(asked by mike b on February 10, 2007)
A: It's not worth the money. If you add any after market stuff you will void your Subaru warranty if something goes wrong. Plus those chips do diddly. (answered by Good Deeds on February 11, 2007)
A: its around 350 bucks..literally...it costs allot, and it wont boost it much in a subaru....good luck !! (answered by speeding04 on February 10, 2007)

(asked by mike b on February 10, 2007)
A: You don't need to buy a chip. You can buy the Openport cable for Subaru Drive-by-wire engine control module from www.tactrix.com for $79 plus shipping. Connecting that cable between a PC and the Forester's OBD-II data link connector allows you to change the engine calibrations, like spark advance, fuel enrichment, boost control, etc. You'll also need some free software for your PC in order to make these changes:
