A: It really depends on how much of the engine you need. Are the heads still god or not? For a short block, I have seen them for sale in the NASIOC classifieds for about $500 running. They are about $1500 new from Subaru. If yo need the heads too, it might run closer to $1000 used and $2500 new. Labor will run about $1500 for a short block R&R. If you need heads too and they need to be assembled, it will be more. So in short the answer to your question is between $500 to $5000. (answered by I <3 my Suby. on February 11, 56)
