Toyota Australian Motorsport heritage to be on display at Eastern Creek

Toyota Australia is bringing together at least 15 classic Toyota race cars of noted history and achievements under the Toyota Motorsport Heritage Marquee at Eastern Creek Raceway on Father's Day, Sunday September 4. Organiser and driving force behind the display, Toyota's National After Sales business manager Chris O'Connor, said that Toyota is rightly proud of its motorsport history, and felt that it was time to bring all these classic Toyotas together. The vehicles range from a KE10 Corolla campaigned at Bathurst in 1967 through to the 1991 Supra Turbo Group A racer and 2007 Corolla that raced in the Nürburgring 24 hours. Toyota's incredible Australian Motorsport heritage will be on display at the Muscle Car Masters in September. "These events are always well supported by the private owners of these vehicles, but they are usually scattered across the pit paddock area," said Mr O'Connor.

You Ask We Answer

Q:

Whats the difference between a Toyota supra non turbo and a turbo?

Do the the turbos go faster and are they better to get if you are gonna race with it? What would the price be around on a 1999 toyota supra turbo?
and are under car lights illegal in NY?
(asked by adam on July 23, 2009)

A: Yes, the Turbos make more Horsepower.

The main difference between the two is that one has a Turob and one does not.

As someone else noted you can't get a 1999 Supra.

The last model years they imported to the US were 93-98. These are the most highly desired Supras. They have made well over a 1,000 HP at the rear wheels on stock internals.

These guys are beasts and can handle anything you can throw at them. Plus they have a HUGE aftermarket following.

If you do find one, prepare to pay out the nose. I have seen Stockers go for over 40K. Modified ones have seen prices over 100K.

But you might find them anywhere 20K to 50K.

Yes undercar Lights are illegal. (answered by Toyota Obsession on July 23, 2009)

A: Turbo=high-end power (a lot of it) So yeah turbos are better than non turbo cars... I could bore you with the technicalities of how it works... but usually a turboed car has better components to accommodate the extra power! Go with the turboed car! (especially if you're racing, a turbo is a must!!!!!)

Price is dependant on several factors such as mileage, condition etc. so look around, check the paper or internet or dealers for a price!

Also under glow adds weight, and drains your battery, i wouldn't advise getting it if you're looking for performance! (answered by Stuart on July 23, 2009)

Q:

What's the best motor oil for my 88 toyota supra turbo?

i have a 88 toyota supra turbo 3l and i wanna know whats the best motor oil for it and has 200,000 plus miles. o yea another question is dare any kind of motor flush for a turbo engine..
(asked by Danny's 88 SUPRA on September 26, 2009)

A: I would choose a high mileage motor oil, fully synthetic if possible. Personally I would choose Valvoline Max Life 20W50. (answered by raingump on September 26, 2009)

A: You can use any motor oil as long it is fully synthetic. I'll recommend Castrol or Mobil 1. It will be best to use a fully synthetic motor flush for your turbo engine too.. (answered by louis88 on September 26, 2009)
