Although he recognizes the power of an arts education and the danger of it diminishing, he describes a life that veered more toward being a sportsman than an artist. Q:

Can you lower the seat height of a Triumph Bonneville motorcycle?

I would like to be able to ride a Triumph Bonneville (current seat height is 30.5") but I am most comfortable riding with a seat height around 29". Any advice?
(asked by allielune on May 26, 3359)

A: There are a few things you can try before you make any major mods to the bike.

1. Get higher heeled/stacked boots. You're only talking about an inch and a half; this might be possible.

2. Take your seat - somewhere - and have some of the padding removed. This is becoming more popular. There are places where they remove the stock foam and replace it with another product which is supposed to be just as comfortable but not as thick.

3. Rather than "shortening" the seat, try shaving some off the sides. Sometimes the width of the seat contributes to the issue.

4. There may be settings on your shocks or something that can be adjusted to lower the bike slightly. Probably not 1.5", but maybe enough.

Any of these things may be enough to make you comfortable. But if not, there's sure to be a lowering kit for your bike. I'd start by googling "triumph bonneville" "lowering kit" and some variations of that, and see what you come up with. (answered by RuneAmok on May 26, 4663)

Q:

What's my best bet for finding a used Triumph Bonneville motorcycle, model year 2000 or later?

I live in San Francisco but am willing to travel within a 300 miles radius for the right bike.
(asked by dwmarkus1 on May 15, 2007)

A: My best luck in the past year has been craigslist.com. Other good sources are ebay, and cycletrader.com, or join an internet forum dedicated to Triumphs and look on their classified section. (answered by jimboni on May 16, 2007)

Q:

Does anyone know how much a 2004 Triumph bonneville T100 motorcycle would sell for?

It only has 584 miles, and all the chrome upgrades.
(asked by tmcqueenie47 on January 03, 2009)

A: in the UK about £4,000
it isn't going to be worth more than that. The Chrome extras won't add value to the bike when sold on
Though a dealer would make a swift profit as they could market it as something different. (answered by Philip P on January 03, 2009)
