A new Hyundai Santa Fe has arrived in New Zealand - complete with new prices. So the choice now is not whether to buy a Santa Fe or something like a Mazda CX-9 - but whether to buy the Hyundai or something like a Volvo XC60. Last week, the New Zealand media launch of Hyundai's new Santa Fe included an offroading excursion into South Island mountain country that saw the vehicles get to almost 1000 metres above sea level. In one major respect that was appropriate, because this new SUV is also scaling new heights in pricing for Hyundai product. It also makes the new Santa Fe more expensive than most other Japanese or Korean SUVs, and almost moves it into the market territory where premium European product lives. Whereas retail prices for the previous model topped out at $66,990, this time around the pricing goes to a whopping $79,990.

I need to replace the Mass Airflow Sensor on a 1979 Volvo 242.
I have the Part. So I know what it looks like
I can not find where it goes.
I have looked all the obvious places.
If you have a picture that would really be helpful.

A: Try removing the air intake duct that goes from the air filter to the engine. You may find it right in the throttle plate opening on some cars. There has to be wires going to it, so find any wires leading to the duct and throttle plate interface.

1982 Volvo 242 Turbo, what do you think about it?

My Friend wants to buy this 1982 Volvo 242 Turbo. What do you think of these cars. Are they fairly dependable? Are they hard to find parts for? Are they labor intesive cars to fix? Give me your OPINION or FACT about that year, make, & model car.
More details for the smarty pants who think this car is for me. I don't dislike it or like it. I know nothing about it. I like Mustangs, does that matter... no. Now, this car is for a chick who will NOT be working on it. I will probably do most of the repair and maintenance so you see why I care.

A: the volvo 242 is not a bad car if you have plenty of spare cash although as
first of they drink feul like it is going out of fashion
secondly although reliably they can run for a very long time problem free when they do start to fail everything goes in tandem
the parts can be fairly costly and in some circumstances very hard to find as this was not the most popular model in the series (most prefered the 343)
they are as airodynamic as a house brick so watch yerself on motorways or in heavy crosswinds
the plus side is that they are very strong first impact cars ie they can take one hell of a hit the first time they are crashed but after that they turn to jelly (thats why most banger racers avoid using them)
they do have caracter though and they can be fun to drive if you are aware of their handling flaws the storage space for the class of vehicle is second to nun and they dont suffer from stationary overheating so good in traffic jams and they are very comfortable inside with plenty of leg room and good seats so long drives are no real problem
of all the cars i have owned (and thats alot) i would say that volvo's are one off my favourites although they will make your friend unpopular with bikers
but unfortunatly as a first car i would not reccomend it due to its dodgy handleing and crap fuel consumption
oh and to the fella above the classic car definition is any car predating 1973 (answered by andytrike on May 30, 2007)
