What is the best way to take off a 1990 Volvo 740 Door panel?
I have a detached speaker cone on the driver side and the door panel doesn't look like its sitting flush anyway. The passenger door panel pocket is busted and I have a replacement I want to use. 1990 Volvo 740 GL sedan, blue interior.

A: You need to remove the following,
-Door Lock Knob
-red light on the side of the panel
-speaker grille
-3 white clips at the bottom of the door panel
-switch assembly and the trim that covers it.
At that point the doorpanel should be loose and ready to be removed.
Install is the reverse of removal, make sure the door panel that you have looks the same and has the same mounting as volvo changes the door panel from several years. (answered by very confused on January 08, 2008)

Any tips for cleaning upholstry in a 1987 Volvo 740?
I bought my car from the original owner, and she was a single woman who never really used the back seat. Well, it stayed nice until my stepdaughter snuck some food with her into the car and fell asleep. Now I have these ugly stains on my backseat on the passenger side. Any tips as to cleaning a tan cloth upholstery in a Volvo 740? I'm not against any harsh chemicals, or anything like that, so please, all the help I can get would be wonderful!

A: tuff stuff spray foam carpet and upolstery cleaner from walmarts or autozone and a stiff bristled brush will clean it like new. (answered by mister ss on September 24, 2007)

I have a v belt for my 1990 volvo 740 turbo. I am trying to find out where I can find an installation diagram that I can either download or print out for the v belt which goes to the alternator.

A: Your particular Volvo belt for the alternator is simple and straight forward which doesn't necessarily require a diagram. There are 3 belts(not including the timing belt) in front of the engine. One for the a/c,one for the p/s and one for the water pump. The alternator belt is the easiest to replace cause it doesn't require removal of the other belts. However, replacing all 3 belts at the same time is recommended. The size of the p/s and the alternator belts are the same(11.9x1013) and the a/c belt is(13x975). You can probably find these sizes at local auto parts store. To make life easier would be going to an independent volvo shop...it's a fast moving parts so they must have in stock at all times. If the volvo shop doesn't sell loose new parts to u then never do business with them....believe me....but if your looking for used parts then that's a different story...why?...cause it's more lucrative.....and that they have a surplus of used parts that taking up space....like a liquidation sale or something..
