Today's Nice Price or Crack Pipe Jeep Pickup is a perfect example of how they used to build ‘em, but will its modern-day price give you the willies. Sure the Elise is a modern interpretation of the classic less-weight equals more speed school of thought, and even meets today's stringent safety and pollution wrangling mandates to boot, but as yesterday's car proved, it has its limits. Today's 1962 Willys Jeep Pickup has none of those constraints, and it may very well be the last vehicle you'd ever need to buy. Not so sweet - in fact, seemingly leaving a sour taste in the mouths of the 79% of you who gave it a Crack Pipe loss - was yesterday's 2006 Lotus Elise.

I just purchased a 51 Willys truck, which I'm starting to think is a 1 ton truck.?

Any ideas how to determine what this truck is? I'm new to the Willys arena so any help is great. I'm planning on doing a basic restoration of this.

A: Maybe you could contact Daimler/Chrysler. Since they own Jeep now, they should have the records. Or, try you local Jeep dealership. They have a lot of information that they can access too. If you know which state is was titled in, the DMV would have it on record also. (answered by busymom_76 on February 23, 2006)

when restoring old trucks and cars why do people usually put them on a modern chassis?

i am looking to buy and old willys truck or wagon and i have seen several that people have "restored" and they do that to them, doesnt that kinda take away some of the historic value? what is the point in doing this?
